Pittsburg, K.S., March 5, 2022 - The Monroe Express men's track and field squad got a lot out of their first-ever appearance in the 2022 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Express performed well throughout the indoor season in the relays, and on Day 2, they got an opportunity to measure themselves against the best of the best in the country.
The men's 4x800 relay team of Romar Scott (Whithorn, Jamaica), Jeremiah Herbert (Queens Village, N.Y.), Wayne Stephenson (Falmouth, Jamaica), and Danario Douglas (Prospect District Hanover, Jamaica) finished with a time of 8:03.61 for 13th in the event.
This was Express's first full year of competition, and they proved that they could compete with the best of the best after posting eight individual top-five finishes. They will look to take that momentum and experience from the program's first trip to nationals into their preparation for the Outdoor season.
