Eva Lassen Tabbed as Assistant Director of Athletics at Monroe University - Bronx

BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Eva Lassen as Assistant Director of Athletics on Thursday morning. As Assistant Athletic Director, Lassen will assist with the management, coordination, and administration of the competitive NJCAA Division III Monroe University – Bronx athletics program. She will also assist the Director of Athletics David Spiegel with general administration and daily operations of the athletic department to provide a well-rounded experience for all student-athletes, as well as helping with game-day preparation, internal operations, transportation operations, and with external and community relations.

"As a Bronx native, former athlete, and advocate for student-athletes, I'm thrilled to join the athletic department for Monroe Express," Lassen said. "I'm eager to contribute to Monroe's mission under David's leadership, and look forward to collaborating with staff, students, and the community, to prioritize our students' academic and athletic efforts."

Lassen brings several years of experience in athletic administration

Prior to Monroe, Lassen worked at fellow Region 15 institution Borough of Manhattan Community College as an Athletic Trainer, Academic Administrator, and Facilities Assistant Coordinator. She held those roles from 2021 until 2025 as she supervised practices and home contests for 11 sports. Lassen also assisted in the setup, organization, and breakdown of athletic events, and ensured operational efficiency.

While at BMCC, Lassen supervised and conducted weekly study hall sessions for 200-plus student-athletes and assisted in the NJCAA eligibility process with the coaches and Director of Athletics. She also monitored the usage of the gymnasium, fitness center, and swimming pool. She ensured compliance with the facility guidelines. She aided the coordination of facility use to all the students and staff.

Prior to BMCC, Lassen worked at John Jay College, Hofstra University, and SUNY New Paltz simultaneously as a Health Instructor and Athletic Coordinator. She coordinated academic and athletic events, acting as a liaison between students, faculty, and athletic departments. She also oversaw the organization and management of athletic events hosted by the three institutions over the summer seasons, such as baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and track and field.

"I'm very excited to bring Eva on board with the Express as our new Assistant Athletic Director," Spiegel said. "She brings a wealth of experience with her, as well as a hunger and drive to contribute at a greater level. With that, and a personality that I feel suits our department perfectly, I'm confident Eva will be an incredible addition to our athletic department."

Lassen's athletic training background not only includes her roles at her four collegiate stops, but also with the Westchester Knicks of the G-League as she was involved in the game-day operations for the team as an Athletic Training Student Assistant from 2017 until 2019.

A native of the Bronx, Lassen earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training, with a minor in psychology, from Dominican University in 2019. Four years later, she received her master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irving, Calif.
