BRONX – A pair of Monroe University- Bronx basketball student-athletes were honored by Region 15 on Thursday afternoon. Salimah Williams was named the Region's Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention for NJCAA Division III women's basketball, while Steven McGriff earned the same accolade on the NJCAA Division III men's basketball side.

Williams averaged 14.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 steals, and 3.7 assists per game (10 games played) during the month of November. The Jersey City native scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and forced four steals to lead the Express to a big road victory over NJCAA Division I Baltimore City Community College on November 8. The sophomore guard led the Express to a 9-1 overall record, 5-1 in Region 15 play, and a No. 7 ranking in the NJCAA National Poll during the opening month of the season.

McGriff averaged 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in November. The Brooklyn native produced 20 points and 11 rebounds in the region win over Borough of Manhattan Community College back on November 13. The second-year combo student-athlete tallied 23 points and nine boards in Monroe's regional victory over Nassau Community College on November 20. McGriff guided the Express to a 5-3 record overall and 4-2 in Region 15 play during the season's first month.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
