CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Monroe University - Bronx Athletics Department continues to garner academic achievements as 29 Express student-athletes landed on the 2024-25 NJCAA All-Academic team. The NJCAA made the official announcement on Friday, July 25, which can be seen
here. This year, the Express honorees increased by eight compared to last year as 21 Monroe - Bronx players earned NJCAA All-Academic team kudos during the 2023-24 academic year.
Yasmel Molina of the Express women's volleyball team earned a spot on the NJCAA All-Academic first team for the second year in a row.
The Express baseball team led the way with 10 student-athletes landing on the NJCAA All-Academic team as well as the percentage of the program's players making the prestigious list. The baseball program also produced the highest Team GPA for the Express Athletics Deparment with 3.35 during the 2024-25 academic year.
The Monroe – Bronx men's soccer program had the most NJCAA Second Team All-Academic honorees with seven.
Monroe had 17 student-athletes land on the NJCAA All-Academic second team, while 11 student-athletes were enrolled onto the NJCAA All-Academic third team.
The women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's basketball, softball, and baseball programs each received the NJCAA Academic Team Award for earning a combined team GPA of 3.00 or more. The full list of the NJCAA Academic Team Award winners can be viewed at

Below is the criteria for student-athletes to be selected to the NJCAA All-Academic team.
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
