BRONX – Anthony (A.J.) O'Hagan, the sports information director for the Monroe University – Bronx athletics department, has been named the second vice president of the Eastern Athletic Communications Association (EAST-COMM) during the organization's business meeting last month.
O'Hagan moves into a four-year term in the presidential rotation for
EAST-COMM, where he will serve as second vice president in 2025-26, first vice president in 2026-27, and become president in 2027-28. He will conclude his rotation run with one year as past president in 2028-29.
History could potentially be made as O'Hagan is on pace to be the first NJCAA/JUCO representative to serve as president in East-Comm's 72-year history.
"I want to thank my fellow members of the EAST-COMM executive board for believing in me and allowing me to earn this great opportunity," O'Hagan said. "I also want to thank my leaders and colleagues in the Monroe University family for helping me grow as a professional."
O'Hagan served as the charities chair on the EAST-COMM executive board from July of 2021 until June of 2025.
Entering his third year as the sports information director for the Monroe Express, O'Hagan will continue to oversee the publicity, media relations, and statistics for all of Monroe – Bronx's varsity teams. He is also the sports information director for Region 15, a role he has held since January of 2025.
EAST-COMM was established in 1955 as the East Coast Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA). The organization's mission is to provide high-level, affordable professional development, educational opportunities and networking for its members, providing an avenue for growth as strategic communicators in collegiate athletics. The organization's primary method of delivering on its mission comes via hosting an annual workshop located in the Northeastern part of the United States.
