BRONX – It will be a Region 15 showdown with national implications on Saturday afternoon as the nationally ranked No. 6 Monroe University – Bronx men's soccer team will take on nationally ranked No. 5 Nassau Community College out on Long Island. The action at Mitchel Athletic Complex will begin at 5:00 p.m.
 
The Express are currently tied for third place in the regional standings at 7-1-1 (8-1-1 overall). The Lions sit on top in first place with a 7-0-2 record in region play (8-1-2 for the season). 
 
Nassau CC will be providing live stats and live streaming video for the match. 
 
Leading the way for the Express this season has been sophomore forward Chrismonor Eugene who was named the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Player of the Week this past Wednesday. He has produced 10 goals and a program single-season record nine assists so far this year. In net, freshman goalkeeper Raymond Romero is 4-0-1 this year with a stellar goals-against average of 0.43.
 
For the Lions, sophomore forward Marc Augustin has scored 10 goals and added two assists this year. Second-year forward Marco Russo has provided nine goals and five helpers in 2024.
 
The Express are 3-6 all-time against the Lions and have lost the last three head-to-head matchups. 
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
