BRONX - The Monroe University - Bronx baseball team will open the 2025 season with a big test against the reigning two-time NJCAA Division III National Champions Rowan College of South Jersey - Gloucester, out in Sewell, N.J., on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch at RCSJ - Gloucester Baseball Field is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Roadrunners are also ranked No. 1 in the country in the NJCAA Division III Baseball Poll.

Last season, the Express went 23-22 and advanced to the Region 15 Championship Round.

The Roadrunners are 104-13 over the course of their previous two national championship winning seasons.

There are a lot of new faces for the Express this year as 21 out of the 34 players on the roster are newcomers. Highlighting the returning players for the Express this year are 2024 All-Region honorees Yan Ortiz Torres (shortstop), Giovanny Flores (third base), Edwin Minaya Jr. (right field), and Joeliel Cruz (second base). Jayden Moya will also enter his second year for the Express. He is a force at the plate and on the mound. Last season, he pitched a no-hitter for Monroe at Nassau Community College on March 30, and struck out 13 batters in the process.

Bryan Diaz ('19) will enter his second season as head coach for the Express. He served the team as the pitching coach the previous three seasons before being elevated to head coach. He will be assisted by Anthony Gonzalez Jr. ('22) who enters his third year on the coaching staff. Like Diaz, Gonzalez Jr. was a student-athlete for the Monroe - Bronx baseball program. Luis Lopez will return as the hitting coach. Richard Corbo resumes his duties as head developmental coach. Former Express pitcher Tyler Cadena ('23) has been elevated to pitching coach after serving the previous season as the team manager. Frank Ballar ('23) enters his first season as assistant coach for Monroe - Bronx. Like Diaz and Cadena, Ballar is a former pitcher for the Express.
