Bryan Diaz was promoted to head coach of the Express baseball team in September of 2023.
Diaz led the Express to the Region 15 Championship Round in his first season as head coach. The Express defeated two nationally ranked teams that year. He mentored star pitcher Adrian Quezada, who was named to the NJCAA All-America third team and was selected to the All-Region 15 first team. Under Diaz's guidance, Quezada and Jayden Moya each threw a no-hitter during the season, with the former eventually earning a spot on the NCAA Division I Queens University of Charlotte baseball team beginning with the 2025 season.
Also during Diaz's first season as head coach, nine Express baseball student-athletes landed on the All-Region 15 team, including four on the first team. Two student-athletes earned a spot on the Region 15 Gold Glove team. In academics, 16 players were named to the Region 15 All-Academic team. He also guided six players who landed on the NJCAA All-Academic team. Camilo Rodriguez was recognized as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District College Division At-Large team honoree. Also in 2024, the Express baseball team earned the NJCAA Academic Team Award. Â
In 2025, the Express earned their second straight appearance in the Region 15 Championship Round. Monroe won 30 games, including two against a nationally ranked opponent. Robert Herrera and Yan Ortiz Torres were bestowed with NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week honors, while Marcus Rodriguez earned NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week kudos. Six Express players were named to the All-Region team, including three on the first team. Four student-athletes earned gold glove awards. For the second year in a row, the baseball program earned the Team Academic Award at the Monroe - Bronx Athletics Department's Awards Dinner for tying the highest team GPA out of all the Express teams during the Winter 2025 Semester. His program also earned the NJCAA Academic Team Award once again. His players thrived in the classroom as 10 student-athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Academic team. Diaz coached 22 players who were selected to the Region 15 All-Academic team and seven players who landed on the Eastern Athletic Communications Assocation Academic Honor Roll.Â
No stranger to the program, Diaz was a pitcher for the Express during his sophomore season in 2019. He returned to the Monroe - Bronx baseball squad in 2021 where he spent the next three seasons at the assistant/pitching coach. During Diaz's three years of being in charge of the varsity pitching staff and serving as assistant coach, Monroe captured the 2022 NJCAA Region 15 Championship, made the region championship game twice, and qualified for the Region 15 Postseason three times.Â
Diaz is known for developing pitchers using methods such as driveline to strengthen velocity and is a teacher of arm care.Â
During the 2022 season, Diaz was the head coach of the Monroe University - Bronx junior varsity baseball team. Diaz played as an outfielder for the Monroe University - New Rochelle junior varsity team as a freshman in 2016.
A native of the Bronx, Diaz graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Monroe University - Bronx in 2019.Â
