BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx men's volleyball team will begin the 2025 season with a pair of matches at the Monroe Mustangs Invitational on Friday in the Monroe Athletic Complex. The first match will be against the College of DuPage at 9:00 a.m. and then the Express will battle Union College (N.J.) at 3:00 p.m.
 
There will be live streaming video and live stats for all the Express matches during this weekend's Monroe Mustangs Invitational.

There will be new leadership for the second-year program. Marien Garcia will lead the Express as the head coach. He will be assisted by Tyler Simmons. Garcia's full bio can be seen here, while Simmons' writeup can be accessed at this link. 
 
The Express have a young team as 10 of the 14 players on the roster are rookies. Two of the four returners from Monroe are All-Region 15 first team honorees: outside hitter Jeremy Rivera-Aponte and libero Harold Romero. The other two returners are setter Wiltor Cubas and middle blocker Mickey Mingo.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY 
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
