BRONX – The Monroe College – Bronx softball team will be competing in the Region 15 Postseason this weekend. On Saturday, the second-seeded Express will take on third-seeded Dutchess Community College in a single elimination game at Brentwood Softball Field on the campus of Suffolk County Community College. First pitch out on Long Island is set for 12:00 p.m.

The winner of the matchup between Monroe – Bronx and Dutchess will take on top-seeded Suffolk County Community College in a best-of-three series for the Region 15 Championship. Game one will take place later on Saturday after the single-elimination game. Game two, and if necessary – game three, will take place on Sunday at Brentwood Softball Field. The second game of the series (on Sunday) will start at noon.
The Express (11-26, 5-3 Region 15) went 4-0 against the Falcons (1-19, 0-8 Region 15) during the 2024 regular season.
Leading the way for Monroe – Bronx this year has been All-Region first team honoree
Brianna Talley. The freshman catcher has generated an impressive batting average of .447 during the regular season. She hit three home runs, tallied seven doubles, lined three triples, picked up 24 runs batted in, produced 34 hits, and scored just as many times. Talley walked 23 times and stole just as many bases.
For Dutchess, freshman shortstop Calia Delvecchio produced a batting average of .450 during the regular season with an on-base percentage of .532. She scored 14 times, drilled three doubles, a triple, and a home run. Delvecchio also walked seven times and stole a trio of bases.
Suffolk County (9-7, 7-1 Region 15) was ranked as high as No. 7 nationally during the regular season. Leading the way for the Sharks has been sophomore second-base student-athlete Kaylin McDonald who hit four home runs, launched eight doubles, and drilled five triples this season. She's driven 34 runs, scored 19 times, stole three bases, and drew five walks. McDonald has a .543 batting average, an on-base percentage of .625, and a slugging percentage of 1.196.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
