BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx softball phenoms,
Tiara Desanto and
Kimberly Coste, were honored by Region 15 on Wednesday evening.
For the second time in a row, Desanto was selected as the Region 15 Division III Softball Athlete of the Month. Coste earned Region 15 Division III Softball Athlete of the Month recognition.

Desanto was named to the All-Region first team and Region 15 All-Tournament team. She hit three home runs and drilled five doubles in April. The rookie infielder scored 21 times and drove in 14 runs. Desanto hit .364 and stole 16 bases during the month.
Coste earned three wins in April. The highlight was on April 12 at NJCAA Division II Orange County Community College where Coste was outstanding in relief. She earned the victory after tossing 4 2/3 innings and allowing just one unearned run while limiting the Colts to two hits. She pitched three complete games in April. Thanks to her strong effort throughout the season, Coste earned a spot on the All-Region second team and earned Region 15 All-Sportsmanship accolades.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
