LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2025-26 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honorees this past Wednesday afternoon. Five members of the Monroe University - Bronx softball team were named to this prestigious academic list. The full announcement by the NFCA can be seen here.

To qualify, a student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year. 

Below is a full list of the Express softball players who earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors (order based on list of photos in the graphic, up to down and left to right):

Taina Nieves
Darlene Pena Puente (second-straight year being named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete)
Jayda Delgado

The above honorees thrived in the classroom and earned success on the field during the year as they helped the Express softball program earn a berth in the Region 15 Postseason. 
      
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
