BRONX - The Monroe College - Bronx softball team will kick off the 2024 season with four games in the state of Maryland this weekend. On Saturday, the Express will battle Chesapeake College in a doubleheader at Mercedes M. Lesser Field. The action starts at 11:00 a.m. On Sunday, Monroe will compete in two games against Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.

This year, Monroe - Bronx has a young team as 10 out of the 15 players are rookies. There will be five returners this year, including team captains Angelica Uribe-Perez and Dulce Duran. Highlighting the newcomers this year are Ciara Harriott and Brianna Talley who will also serve as team captains. Lauren Farina will begin her second year as head coach for the program. She will once again be assisted by Zahra Medina and Janique Rivera-Aponte. The full 2024 softball roster can be seen here.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
