BRONX - The Monroe College - Bronx men's soccer team will face a big test on Thursday, October 5, as the Express will duel with nationally ranked No. 4 Nassau Community College. The action at Mitchel Athletic Complex, on the campus of Nassau Community College, will begin at 4:00 p.m.

The Express (3-3-1, 3-3-1 Region 15) are in the hunt for a spot in the Region 15 Championships. Monroe - Bronx is just outside of a playoff spot in the Region 15 standings which can be accessed here. The Blue and Gold have won two matches in a row and have been unbeaten in four of the past five matches.

The Lions (9-0-2, 6-0-1) are undefeated this season. They have earned impressive victories, including a 2-1 victory at home over then-nationally ranked No. 4 Suffolk County Community College back on September 14.

Leading the way for Monroe this season has been sophomore defender Lorenz Utz who has scored five goals and provided three assists so far this year. Classmate James Gallagher has generated three goals and four helpers so far this season.

For Nassau, freshman forward Marc Augustin co-leads the nation in points (45), is second in goals (18), and is tied for fourth in all of NJCAA Division III in assists (9) this year. Classmate Marco Russo has generated 11 goals and seven assists this season.

Monroe - Bronx is 3-5 all-time against Nassau.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
