BAYSIDE, N.Y. – The Monroe University – Bronx men's soccer team continued its perfect start to Region 15 play on Saturday morning, shutting out Queensborough Community College, 9-0, at Queensborough Field. The victory improves the Express to 4-2-1 overall and 4-0-0 in Region 15.
Mamadou Bangoura led the offensive attack for the Express, recording a hat trick with all three goals coming during the opening half.
Bangoura opened the scoring in the sixth minute, receiving a pass from
Brandon Loyola before beating the Queensborough goalkeeper. He struck again in the 17th minute, this time finding the back of the net off an assist from
Cheikh Toure.
Loyola extended Monroe's advantage to 4-0 in the 20th minute, converting a penalty kick.
Abdoulaye Sarr added another goal in the 41st minute off a pass from Loyola before Bangoura completed his hat trick with just 10 seconds remaining in the opening half.
Oumar Barry earned the assist after Bangoura poked the ball in during a scramble inside the box.
Aliou Diallo also found the back of the net during the opening half, scoring off a rebound in the 13th minute. It marked his seventh goal of the season.
Monroe continued its offensive pressure after halftime, with
Kadiff Wolfe scoring in the 52nd minute to make it a 7-0 contest.
Dominic Robinson added another tally five minutes later, receiving a pass from
Rolensky Marc before beating the goalkeeper one-on-one.
Barry capped off the scoring in the 62nd minute, tipping in a rebound inside the box to give the Express a 9-0 advantage. He now has seven goals and 19 points this year.
"Very happy with our fourth win in a row and staying undefeated in Region 15," Express Head Coach
Jose Hernandez said. "The team is really coming together, we're getting more guys minutes, and our chemistry gets better every day. A 9-0 win on the road, there's not much more you can ask for. Proud of the guys, but we know there's still a lot more work ahead."
Monroe finished the contest with 31 shots, including 21 on goal, while holding Queensborough to just six total shots and three on target. The Express also earned 12 corner kicks.

Kimany Arzu and
Nelson Acosta, as well as the Monroe defense, recorded the shutout. Arzu three saves.
For the Tigers (1-3-0, 1-3-0 Region 15), goalkeeper Roshaun Casey made 11 saves during the contest.
Monroe returns to action against LaGuardia Community College on Tuesday, September 22nd. The match will be at Randalls Island Field #71, beginning at 4 p.m.
