Delmy Del Cid Announced as New Monroe Express Women’s Soccer Head Coach

BRONX, N.Y., June 11, 2021 – Monroe College Express Director of Athletic Allaire Primiano has announced the hiring of Delmy Del Cid as the new Monroe Express women's soccer head coach ahead of the fall 2021 season.

"I am so excited and eager to be part of this team," said Del Cid. "Coaching is a huge part of my life and now my career. I hope to bring success to the department and to create a family within in the team. It will be a great year, looking forward to the new season."

Coach Del Cid has been with America SCORES in New York, N.Y. since Feb. 2018, serving as the data coordinator and program manager. America SCORES New York is an after-school program that creates equitable opportunities for young people to experience sport, express themselves and inspire positive change off the field and outside the classroom. America SCORES New York partners with New York City public schools to hire and train teachers to coach their students in soccer and other activities and skills.

Prior to her time at America SCORES New York, Del Cid was part of the Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps program for two years, coaching and mentoring girls' soccer at South Bronx United. While there, she coached and mentored the U-14 and U-16 girls' soccer teams. Del Cid implemented individualized teaching strategies to help improve overall performance. She also played a big role on the administration side at Up2Us and South Bronx United. Del Cid's commitment to this program earned her the honor of Up2Us Sports Coach of the Year in 2017.

Back in July 2017, Del Cid helped coach at the Strive Sports Challenge, a two-week leadership camp in Wilmington, Del. During this two-week camp, she helped coach and mentor high school soccer players. Much of Del Cid's role involved sports psychology, helping the athletes overcome personal and professional obstacles to help them improve both on and off the field.

"We are very excited to welcome Delmy to the Monroe College-Bronx athletic department," said Director of Athletics Allaire Primiano. "Delmy's experience as a student-athlete at the college level, passion for coaching, as well as mentoring and impacting young individuals' lives, makes her a great fit for the Monroe Express women's soccer program."

Del Cid is no stranger to NJCAA athletics, as she was a two-year starter for the women's soccer team at Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse, N.Y., where she was a defender for the Bobcats.

Coach Del Cid is a 2014 graduate of Bryant & Stratton College, where she received her associate's degree in accounting. She then completed her bachelor of business administration at The Metropolitan College of New York in 2017. Del Cid went on to obtain her master's in sports management from Adelphi University in May 2021. A Bronx, N.Y. resident, Del Cid is a native of Guatemala, migrating to the United States with her family when she was five years old.
