GARDEN CITY, N.Y., October 23, 2019 – The Monroe Express women's soccer season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XV Championship Tournament, as the team suffered a 10-0 loss to top-seeded Nassau Community College.
Freshman
Ramatoulaye Diallo led the Express with a team-high two shots, including one attempt on goal in the match while sophomore
Joanne Chavez registered a shot of her own.
Goalkeeper
Myrna Gregorie made four saves in net.
For Nassau, Claudia Andrade led the Lions with three goals in the contest. Hannah Woodward, Amirah Campbell, and Kelly Fogarty all chipped in two goals each while Fanny Betchart Matt tallied one score.
The Express conclude their season with a 2-10 overall record.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
