BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx baseball stars,
Yevian Delgado and
Anthony Sanchez, were honored by Region 15 on Wednesday evening.
Delgado was named the Region 15 Division III Baseball Pitcher of the Month. Sanchez was bestowed Region 15 Division III Baseball Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention accolades.

Delgado went 4-0 during the month of April for the Express with an ERA of 2.95. He struck out 25 batters and pitched three complete games.
Coming up big in key contests, Delgado earned an important win at Suffolk County Community College that clinched the No. 1 seed in the Region 15 Postseason for the Express. He struck out five batters in 4 1/3 innings pitched.
After April, Delgado helped the Express secure the Region 15 Championship against Suffolk County on May 7. He earned the win for Monroe by going six innings, only giving up one run (none earned), surrendering six hits, allowing three walks, and striking out three batters. Delgado earned a spot on the All-Region Tournament team.
Sanchez produced eight home runs during the month of April. He hit .482 with 29 runs scored and 22 RBIs. He drilled seven doubles, stole 11 bases, and drew just as many walks. Sanchez earned a save on the mound (a shutout inning at Suffolk County) which helped the Express claim the #1-seed in the Region 15 Playoffs.
His momentum continued beyond the month, as Sanchez got the final out to clinch the Region 15 Championship and a spot in the Northeast District Championship Series for Monroe - Bronx. It marked Sanchez's third save of the season.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
