Bryan Diaz Named Region 15 Baseball Coach of the Year; Several Express Players Earn All-Region Honors

SELDEN, N.Y. – Region 15 announced its Division III Baseball All-Region team on Thursday afternoon and Monroe University – Bronx is heavily represented.

Express Head Coach Bryan Diaz was selected as the Region 15 Coach of the Year. 

Robert Herrera, Anthony Sanchez, Adrian Hernandez, Pablo Aquino, and Joshua Osorio were selected to the All-Region first team. 

Yevian Delgado, Derek Lebron, and Elijah Andino earned All-Region second-team honors.

Yohansell Manzueta was named to the Region 15 All-Sportsmanship team. 

Diaz propelled the Express to the 2026 Region 15 Championship and a berth in the Northeast District Championship Series. It marked Monroe's second regional title and fifth straight appearance in the Region 15 Championship Round. Monroe is currently 26-13 so far this season.

Herrera is producing an OPS of 1.069 and a batting average of .381. He is slugging .557 with two home runs, five doubles, and three triples. He currently has 41 runs scored and 39 RBIs, while stealing 24 bases out of 28 attempts. His on-base percentage is .512.

Sanchez has been a force on the mound and at the plate. In terms of pitching, Sanchez has recorded three saves which includes getting the final out of the Region 15 Championship Game against Suffolk County Community College which clinched the 5-4 title win for the Blue and Gold. At the plate, he launched nine home runs, just as many doubles, and three triples. His batting average is at an impressive .420. He scored 45 times and drove in 38 runs so far in 2026. His OPS is 1.448, while having an on-base percentage of .550. He stole 15 bases out of 18 attempts. At third base, he has produced 15 putouts and 33 assists. 

Hernandez made a big impact as a starting pitcher for the Express this season. He threw two no-hitters, went 3-0 during the year, earned two shutouts, and fanned 47 hitters.

Aquino is sporting an OPS of 1.182 and has six homers, seven doubles, and eight triples. He has 61 runs and 44 RBIs, primarily serving as the leadoff hitter. His batting average stands at .360. He stole 31 bases out of 34 attempts. 

Osorio has had an impressive rookie campaign. His OPS is at 1.253, with a batting average of .464, and has drilled three home runs with seven doubles. He scored 29 times and has driven in 22 runs. His on-base percentage is .557.

Delgado has been a force in the starting rotation for the Express. He went 7-2, including a win in the regional championship-clinching game against Suffolk County. He struck out 47 batters so far this season. 

Lebron is hitting .408 this year with an OPS of 1.158. He has compiled two home runs, five doubles, and a pair of triples. He scored 34 runs and has 19 RBIs. His on-base percentage stands at .538 and has stolen 19 bases out of 21 attempts. 

Andino is sporting an OPS of 1.089 and a batting average of .391. He has produced three home runs, 15 doubles, and a pair of triples. He has crossed home plate 36 times and compiled 31 runs batted in. He stole 14 bases out of 17 attempts. In the field, he has generated 35 putouts and three assists with a fielding percentage of .950, primarily playing in right field.

Nunez has played strongly in left field, compiling 20 putouts and a fielding percentage of .952.

Manzueta appeared in two games on the mound this season is well respected by his teammates and coaches. 

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
