BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx baseball team earned a victory in Region 15 play over Dutchess Community College, 22-2, at Roberto Clemente State Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The Express extend their winning streak to 13 games and are now a perfect 10-0 in the region (17-7 overall).
Monroe scored 11 runs in the opening inning and never looked back. After the Falcons (0-11, 0-10 Region 15) scored two runs in the second, Monroe tacked on nine more in the bottom frame.
Anthony Sanchez hit two home runs in the opening inning. The first was a three-run shot that made it 4-0 and the second was a two-run blast to extend the Blue and Gold's lead to 11-0. Both round-trippers were hit to center. Sanchez now has seven home runs this season.
In the bottom of the second,
Juan Carlos Salcedo hit two home runs in the frame. The first was a solo home run to left-center that made it 12-2. His second was a grand slam over the fence in center field which padded the Blue and Gold's cushion to 19-2. Salcedo's season total for home runs hits three.
In the bottom of the third,
Adrian Nunez belted a two-run homer to left, his third round-tripper of the year, which made it 22-2 in favor of Monroe – Bronx. That ended up being the final score.

Bryan Diaz said.
For Monroe,
Robert Herrera drilled two doubles, drove in three runs, and scored just as many times during the afternoon. Nunez had five RBIs and came around to score three times. He also went 3-for-4. Sanchez and Salcedo each drove in five runs and scored three times, with the former also hitting a double.
Derek Lebron crossed home plate three times, stole two bases, drew a pair of walks, and picked up an RBI.
Also helping the Express during the game was
Elijah Andino who went 2-for-2, including a double, and scored twice.
Abraham Joaquin Taveras produced an RBI single, provided two runs, and earned a base on balls.
Samuel Hernandez added a base hit, while
Pablo Aquino walked twice, drove in a run, and scored.
On the mound for Monroe,
Adrian Hernandez started the game and earned his third consecutive victory. He struck out five batters, gave up three hits, allowed two runs, and walked two hitters in three innings pitched.
Railyn Uceta came out of the bullpen and tossed two shutout innings as he gave up just one hit and struck out three batters. He did not allow a walk.
For Dutchess, Ryan Wilsey started the game and took the loss.
Monroe – Bronx will host University of Mount Saint Vincent JV in a single game on Wednesday evening. First pitch at Flowers Park is set for 7 p.m.
