BRONX -Â The nationally ranked No. 9 and third-seeded Monroe University - Bronx men's volleyball team will take on nationally ranked No. 7 and second-seeded Borough of Manhattan Community College in the Region 15 Semifinals on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Nassau Community College. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The team that earns the victory will move on to the Region 15 Championship match later in the day at 5 p.m. against the winner of #5-seed Kingsborough Community College and top-seeded/nationally ranked No. 2 Nassau Community College. The Wave and the Lions semifinal contest will be earlier in the day at 1 p.m. The team that captures the Region 15 title will earn an automatic bid into the inaugural NJCAA Men's Volleyball Championship Tournament.Â

The Express (17-12, 6-4 Region 15) earned their spot in the regional semifinals by winning its Region 15 first-round matchup over #6-seed Hostos Community College, 3-0, at The Swamp (Hostos CC campus) this past Thursday evening.
The Panthers (12-4, 7-3 Region 15) secured a first-round bye into the semifinals after having a strong regular season.
Monroe – Bronx and Borough of Manhattan split its two regular season head-to-head meetings this year. The Express won the first matchup in a five-set thriller at BMCC Gymnasium on February 21. The Panthers won the second contest, 3-1, at Nassau Main Gym on March 7.Â
Darren Lopez has led the Express this year with 246 kills, 153 digs, 57 service aces, and 20 blocks during the season.Â
Pedro Bello Lopez is anchoring the defense with 178 digs.Â
Johnnovan Reyes has produced 558 assists.
Frandie Martin has slammed 185 kills so far in 2026.Â

For the Panthers, Mansur Lechiev tallied 122 kills, 174 digs, 36 service aces, and 28 blocks during the season up to this point. Shubham Kapali has registered 277 assists, while Geybran Rienzo has notched 136 digs. Chance Longmore slammed 107 kills so far in 2026.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
