No. 8 Express Men's Volleyball Earns Victory Over Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

ALBANY – The nationally ranked No. 8 Monroe University – Bronx men's volleyball team earned a convincing road victory against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in straight sets, at Albert M. White Gym on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-19, 25-18, and 25-13.

The Express are now 3-3, while the Panthers drop their season opener. 

"The victory today was a result of a collective team effort," Express Head Coach Marien Garcia said. "The energy both on and off the court was truly remarkable, creating an atmosphere that fueled our performance. We focused on minimizing errors throughout each set, which allowed us to maintain a higher level of consistency in our play."

Darren Lopez had a strong match on the attack for the Express with 12 kills, while Frandie Martin added seven putdowns and two blocks. Johnnovan Reyes helped with 21 assists and a trio of digs. Fidel Ramirez and Damien Ramos dominated with five blocks each. Steven Francis Ouellet and Edwin Ortega slammed five kills apiece, with the former adding eight defensive bumps and the latter providing three digs and two blocks. 

Also helping Monroe was David Garcia who generated seven assists and nine digs. Luis Vasquez added four defensive bumps, while Pedro Bello Lopez tallied three digs of his own. 

Monroe – Bronx will travel to Pennsylvania on Monday and take on Harcum College. First serve at Klein Hall Gymnasium is set for 6:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
