LEOMINSTER, Mass. – Monroe University – Bronx Softball Head Coach
Lauren Farina earned a special achievement on July 20 as she was named "Best Female Lifter" by the United States Powerlifting Organization. She earned the honor by competing in the USA Powerlifting's New Age Classic in Leominster, Mass.
"I'm so happy I've found a sport that I can continue to enjoy and that keeps me active and working hard myself," Farina said. "I still have a long way to go but I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far!"
Farina participated in the Women's Raw Open 100 which consisted of a series of squats, bench presses, and dead lifts. She scored 379.17 DOTS, the most out of all female competitors.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
