BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx women's basketball program is proud to announce that several of its student-athletes have committed to four-year schools. They will move forward in their educational and collegiate basketball paths.
Tiffany Newsome and
Da'Mya Cheatham will be playing basketball at St. Andrews University beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. The St. Andrews Knights are an NAIA program in Laurinburg, N.C.
Tymere Moorer (not pictured) and
Cheyenne Hoxie will be playing just up the road at Lehman College, an NCAA school in the Bronx.
Jah Gunter will continue her collegiate basketball career at Medgar Evers College, an NCAA school in Brooklyn.
"These young ladies have the opportunity to play somewhere else and continue their education," Express Head Coach
Damel Ling said. "We are extremely proud of them. They are going to spread the things they learned here out into the world."
Congratulations to our Express women's basketball student-athletes for earning the opportunity to continue both their educational journeys and collegiate basketball careers.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
