EDISON, N.J. - The Monroe University - Bronx men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to Middlesex College, at Middlesex Gymnasium, on Friday evening. Set scores were 20-25, 25-15, 25-22, and 25-23.
For the Express (2-11), freshman
Darren Lopez compiled 12 kills, eight digs, and four service aces. Sophomore
Jeremy Rivera-Aponte slammed home 10 kills, tallied three digs, registered four blocks, and scored a trio of aces. The fours were wild for freshman
Fidel Ramirez as he registered that amount in kills, digs, blocks, and aces. Rookie
Edwin Ortega provided six kills, a team-high nine digs, and three service aces. Sophomore
Wiltor Cubas and rookie
David Garcia each helped out with 15 assists and four digs. Freshman
Luis Vasquez chipped in with two kills and seven digs, while sophomore
Harold Romero added four digs. Freshman
Rogelio Guarneros added four digs of his own. Second-year player
Mickey Mingo generated three kills, just as many digs, and two blocks.
Monroe - Bronx will travel to Pennsylvania the next day to take on Harcum College. First serve at Klein Hall Gymnasium is set for 2:00 p.m.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level. Â
