LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 10 Monroe University – Bronx women's basketball team continued its dominant start to the 2025–26 campaign, improving to 6–0 overall and 2–0 in Region 15 play with a commanding 72–28 road victory over LaGuardia Community College on Tuesday evening at the LaGuardia CC Sports Gymnasium.
With the win, the Express extended their unbeaten streak while putting together another defensive masterclass—holding LaGuardia (1-2, 1-2 Region 15) to under 30 points and forcing 36 turnovers that led to 50 points on the other end.
Monroe - Bronx wasted no time taking control, opening the game with a 23–8 first-quarter surge. The Express' full-court pressure and energy on both ends created separation early, and the team never looked back, holding LaGuardia to single digits in every quarter.

Salimah Williams followed with 10 points, six steals, five assists, and four rebounds, showcasing her all-around versatility. Inside,
Aneyah McLamb continued to anchor the frontcourt, recording eight points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while
Amira McCleod added six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Off the bench for the Blue and Gold,
Jazmyne Rios provided a spark with nine points on 2-of-5 shooting from deep, and
Lea Tavarez matched her with nine points and three steals.
The Express controlled the paint (40 points inside) and won the rebounding battle 46–40, while their depth once again shined with 22 bench points.
"We didn't play our brand of basketball in the first half," Express Head Coach
Damel Ling said. "We came out in the second half committed to playing defense and playing together. We are still a work in progress, but it's nice to secure wins while we are building."
The nationally ranked No. 10 Monroe – Bronx Express will look to keep rolling when they return home to host Borough of Manhattan Community College on Thursday at the Monroe Athletic Center in New Rochelle, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. as the Express aims to extend their perfect start to 7–0.
