BRONX – The Monroe College – Bronx baseball team will compete in the Region 15 Postseason as the No. 2 seed. The postseason begins on Thursday afternoon when the Express take on third-seeded Nassau Community College, in the opening round of the regional tournament, at Roberto Clemente State Park. First pitch is at 3:00 p.m.
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the semifinal round of the double-elimination tournament which will take place at Kingsborough Field on Friday. The team that loses will still compete on the campus of Kingsborough Community College on Friday, but it will be in an elimination game.

The Express (21-20) won three out of four games over the Lions (16-10) during the regular season.
Leading the way for Monroe - Bronx on the mound this season has been sophomore pitcher
Adrian Quezada. He struck out a program single-season best 97 batters, including 13 during his no-hitter at Bronx Community College on April 23. He has earned five wins this season and reached double figures in strikeouts five times, including 16 strikeouts in his last start which was a complete-game victory over Queensborough Community College on April 30. Quezada's earned run average this year is 3.32.
At the plate for the Express this season, sophomore catcher
Hecxiel Perez has a batting average of .402 and drilled seven home runs. He produced two multi-home run games this season, including a three-homer game to lead the Express to a key Region 15 victory over nationally ranked No. 14 Suffolk County Community College back on April 9. He launched a pair of home runs, and broke a 7-7 tie with the official game-winning two-run single, against Kingsborough Community College on April 20. Also this year, he drilled 11 doubles and scored 40 runs with an on-base percentage of .555.
Freshman shortstop
Yan Ortiz Torres has stolen 44 bases for the Express, which are the most in a season in program history. He is also hitting .363 with seven doubles, a home run, 46 runs scored, 26 runs batted in, and 30 walks. Ortiz Torres has an on-base percentage of .552.
Leading the way for Nassau in terms of hitting this season has been freshman second baseman Marcello Arrigo who is hitting .473 with four home runs, 24 runs batted in, 37 runs scored, eight doubles, four triples, 19 stolen bases, and 10 walks. He has an on-base percentage of .559.
Freshman outfielder Ryan Johnston has propelled Nassau's lineup this year with three home runs, 33 runs scored, 32 runs batted in, and a batting average of .400.
On the mound for the Lions, rookie pitcher Joseph Lynn has an earned run average of 3.05, a 2-0 record, and 25 strikeouts.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
