BRONX – The Monroe College - Bronx basketball teams will be competing in a key Region 15 doubleheader against Hostos Community College on Tuesday, December 5 at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium. The women's game will begin at 6:00 p.m., while the men's contest will start at 8;00 p.m.

The women's game will be a rematch of last year's Region 15 Championship game, which was won by Monroe by a score of 74-56.
This year, the nationally ranked No. 10 Express are undefeated in region play at 5-0 (6-4 overall). The Caimans (4-2, 2-1 Region 15) are coming off a convincing Region 15 victory on the road over Queensborough Community College, 78-52, on December 2.
Leading the way for the Express has been freshman guard
Daysiah Smith who is producing 18.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.6 steals per game this season. Rookie guard
Angeleny Cobos is second on the team in scoring with 9.0 points per game.
For the Caimans, sophomore guard Kendra Sanchez is netting 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals, and 3.3 assists per game. Rookie guard Chyna Bryant is averaging a double-double per contest with 10.5 points and 13.5 rebounds.
On the men's side, Monroe – Bronx (5-5, 3-2 Region 15) earned a victory in its last Region 15 contest against Nassau Community College, 83-77, at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium on Thursday, November 30. Hostos (6-4, 3-2 Region 15) has won two of its last three Region 15 games,
Leading the way for the Express has been sophomore forward
Abubakar Kromah who is averaging 20.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per contest. Second-year guard
Jovan Young is scoring 14.0 points an outing.
For the Caimans, sophomore guard TeAmo Ebron is averaging a double-double per game with 16.2 points and 11.0 rebounds, while dishing out 6.0 assists per contest. Freshman guard Tyrese Conway is generating 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per outing.
The Monroe – Bronx women's team is 6-8 all-time against Hostos, but has won its last six head-to-head games, while the Express men's team is 7-5 all-time against the Caimans.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
