CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Monroe University - Bronx Athletics Department continues to garner academic achievements as a department all-time record 41 Express student-athletes landed on the 2025-26 NJCAA All-Academic team. The NJCAA made the official announcement on Wednesday afternoon, which can be seen
here. The original record was 38 set during the 2022-23 academic year. This year, the Express honorees increased by 13 compared to last year as 28 Monroe - Bronx players earned NJCAA All-Academic team kudos during the 2024-25 academic year.
David Garcia of the Express men's volleyball team and
Javaughn White of the Express men's basketball program earned spots on the NJCAA All-Academic first team. They each earned perfect 4.0 GPAs during the 2025-26 academic year.
The Monroe men's soccer team led the way in the department with 11 student-athletes landing on the NJCAA All-Academic team with a campus-high five recipients earning Second-Team NJCAA All-Academic honors.
The Express men's basketball and men's volleyball programs tied each other for the highest percentage of the team's players making the prestigious list from the Bronx campus at 33.3%.
The Monroe baseball program produced the highest Team GPA for the Express Athletics Department, at 3.27, in 2025-26.
The Blue and Gold had 15 student-athletes land on the NJCAA All-Academic second team, while 24 student-athletes were enrolled onto the NJCAA All-Academic third team.
Below is the criteria for student-athletes to be selected to the NJCAA All-Academic team.
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
The women's volleyball, men's soccer, men's basketball, men's volleyball, softball, and baseball programs each received the NJCAA Academic Team Award for earning a combined team GPA of 3.00 or more. The full list of the NJCAA Academic Team Award winners can be viewed at

The Express men's volleyball program earned the NJCAA MVB Academic team of the Year Award for producing a GPA of 3.25 as a unit. For those who missed it, the full release can be accessed

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
