Express Basketball Teams to Battle Suffolk County in Region 15 Play on Thursday, November 28

BRONX – The Monroe College – Bronx women's and men's basketball teams will compete in a Region 15 doubleheader on the road against Suffolk County Community College on Tuesday, November 28. The men will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the women at 8:00 p.m. Both contests will take place at Brookhaven Gymnasium, out on Long Island.
 
There will be no live streaming video for either contest but there will be live stats. The men's live stats page can be accessed here, while the women's live stats can be found at this link.
 
On the men's side, Monroe – Bronx (4-3, 1-2 Region 15) will look to get back on track after having a valiant comeback attempt that fell short against nationally ranked No. 5 Dutchess Community College, 70-63, at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium back on Tuesday, November 21. 
 
Suffolk County (2-4, 2-2 Region 15) has won its last two Region 15 games, including an 89-69 victory on the road over Bronx Community College on November 21. 
 
Leading the way for the Express this season has been sophomore guard Abubakar Kromah who is generating 23.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest.
 
On the women's side, the Express moved up to No. 10 in the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Rankings after being ranked No. 11 every week since the preseason polls came out on October 23. The Express are undefeated in Region 15 play, and against NJCAA Division III opponents, at 3-0 (3-4 overall). Monroe is coming off an impressive victory at home over Dutchess Community College, 69-54, back on November 21.
 
The Sharks (1-4, 1-2 Region 15) won their last regional contest, topping Bronx Community College on the road by a score of 60-19 on November 21. 
 
Propelling the Express this season has been freshman guard Daysiah Smith who is scoring 20.4 points, grabbing 5.4 rebounds, dishing out 3.1 assists, and forcing 2.8 steals per game. 
 
The Express men's team is 4-7 all-time against Suffolk County, while the Monroe women's program has a 4-3 record all-time against the Sharks. 
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
