BRONX - The Monroe College - Bronx women's and men's basketball teams will battle Borough of Manhattan Community College, in a Region 15 doubleheader at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium, on Thursday November 16. The women will play at 6:00 p.m., while the men will tip off at 8:00 p.m.

The Express women's team (1-2, 1-0 Region 15) is ranked No. 11 in the country. Their two losses this year came against nationally ranked NJCAA Division II teams on the road, including the defending NJCAA National Champion and nationally ranked No. 1 Community College of Baltimore County - Essex in the season opener, back on November 3. Monroe - Bronx was victorious in its Region 15 opener against Queensborough Community College, in come-from-behind fashion in overtime by a score of 86-78, at Monsignor Scanlan Gym on November 9. Leading the way for the Express was freshman guardÂ
Daysiah Smith who netted 25 points, dished out nine assists, grabbed six rebounds, and forced three steals. Sophomore forwardÂ
Kristina Poitier-Wells generated a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while blocking three shots.Â
BMCC (1-2, 1-2 Region 15) won a thrilling Region 15 overtime game of its own, knocking off LaGuardia Community College on the road in the season opener by a score of 79-74 back on November 7. Sophomore forward Emily Kennedy scored 26 points and forced 12 steals to help propel the Panthers to the victory.Â
On the men's side, the Express are off to a 3-1 start, and 1-0 against Region 15 competition. Their one loss was on the road against the defending NJCAA Division III National Champion and nationally ranked No. 1 Brookdale Community College back on November 12. A highlight in Monroe's season was a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory over Queensborough, 70-65, at Monsignor Scanlan Gym back on November 9. Leading the way for Monroe – Bronx was sophomore forwardÂ
Abubakar Kromah who tallied a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while forcing three steals and dishing out just as many assists. Second-year guardÂ
Jovan Young generated 13 points, three assists, and a pair of steals.
The Panthers (2-2, 2-1 Region 15) earned an upset victory over then-nationally ranked No. 15 Nassau Community College, 76-63, on the campus of BMCC back on November 11. Sophomore forward Jayden Jarrett led the way with a career-best 23 points to help spark the Panthers to the upset victory.
For the women, Monroe - Bronx is 7-2 all-time against BMCC. On the men's side, the Express have a 7-3 series advantage over the Panthers.Â
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
