BRONX, NY – In an anticipated matchup featuring two of NJCAA's DIII ranked squads, #8 Monroe Express women's basketball took to The Swamp to take on #9 Hostos Community College Caimans in a crosstown rivalry game that saw the former capture a 51-38 victory, to sweep their season series.
Janay Legagneur led the Express with nine points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Aleah James followed with eight points, two steals and one rebound. Nyiera Spady contributed six points, one assist, one block, one rebound and one steal.
Magan Jackson added six points and two rebounds.
The Express visit #1 CCBC-Essex on Saturday (Jan. 21) in a non-conference tilt at 2 PM inside CCBC-Essex Wellness & Athletics Center in Baltimore, MD.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
