BRONX, NY – Monroe Express men's soccer came out in full force Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout victory against the Westchester Community College Vikings (0-1, 0-1 Region XV) at Barrett Field. This win came off the heels of a hard-fought season opening road loss Saturday. 

Second year player Juan Henao scored the game opening point at the 43:00 mark from a Jan Lucas Steinmetz rebound. Sebastian Zamorski followed with an out of the box goal 81:00 into the contest to extend the lead and end the game two goals to nothing. 

Monroe finished the evening with eight shot attempts and six shots on goal.

The Express return to the field Thursday (Sept. 8) for a Region XV matchup against the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers (0-0, 0-0 Region XV) at City Park in New Rochelle, NY.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
