NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Monroe-Bronx men's soccer returned from a five day break with a 3-1 victory against the Rockland Community College Hawks in conference play.Â
The Express went on the offensive early, connecting on six shots by the 13 minute mark in the first half, while Rockland was unable to break the mold. Following a relatively uneventful first half, the pace began to increase at the beginning of the latter half of the contest. At only five minutes into the period,
Joao Gago connected on an unassisted goal to break the scoring ice for the match. This net was his first score of the season.Â
Rockland would not go away easily as they matched the Express' point 65 minutes in, to even the count. After some back and forth play for the next few minutes,
Marcus Paulik slotted an unassisted goal to create some separation once again. Monroe wrapped up the victory following a
Bram Mutsaers net from
Marcus Paulik.Â
The Express fired on all cylinders offensively, registering 29 shots with 16 being on goal. Rockland led the contest with 13 saves.Â
The Blue & Gold travel to Middletown, NY Saturday (Oct. 1) for a Region 15 matchup against the Orange County Community College Colts.Â
