Monroe-Bronx Men’s Soccer Completes a Road Shutout Against SUNY Orange

The Express return home Monday (Oct. 3) for a conference matchup against LaGuardia Community College

MIDDLETOWN, NY – Monroe College-Bronx men's soccer continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 road shutout against the Orange County Community College Colts in Middletown, NY. The win raises the Express' win streak against Orange to five games, with an average of 6.2 goals per contest.

The Express shared the wealth during this match, with six different goal scorers recording a goal. In addition, several Monroe strikers recorded their first goals of the season. Those players are Hugo Barbiero, Jan Lucas Steinmetz, Kymron Ashley and Alejandro Preud'homme-Cerda.

After a successful first half, the Express continued their offensive attack into the second half with four goals to put the Colts away, that included an Ashley reception from Noe Charles-Messance at the 88 minute mark to settle the final. 

In the end, Monroe completed the shutout with 9 shots, all on goal, 15 corner kicks and 2 fouls. Orange County finished the contest with 10 saves. 

The Express begin a two game homestand Monday (Oct. 3) for a conference stint against the LaGuardia Community College Red Hawks inside Flowers (City) Park at 1:30 PM.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
