Poughkeepsie, N.Y., March 24, 2022 – Jeremy Acevado (Bronx, New York) was locked in from the moment he stepped on the mound Thursday evening, striking out a career-high 11 batters for the Express Baseball program's first-ever no-hitter in a dominant 13-1 Regional victory. The victory improved the Express's record to 4-8 while the Falcons fell to 0-3 with the loss.
The Express provided their starter with a plethora of offensive support registering 18 hits on the night with six players posting multi-hit nights and four posting multi-RBI performances.
Joseph Rosario (New York, N.Y.), Juan Jorge (Bronx, N.Y.), Jose Arrieta (New Bedford, MA), Salomon Lluveres (Providence, Rhode Island), Jose Ramirez (Bronx, New York), and Alex Rodriguez (North Syracuse, N.Y) all recorded two hits apiece.
Arrieta led the way with three runs batted in, and freshman
Ernie Farrell (Corona, New York),
Jorge, and
Lluveres drove in two. The Express were outstanding in the field with no errors on the night and
Rodriguez led the way with 11 putouts, and
Arrieta threw out two runners trying to steal.
Rosario opened the scoring for Monroe-Bronx with an RBI single to right field in the top of the first, and
Rodriguez and
Lluveres followed with two RBIs on their own in the top of the second with two triples.
Farrell recorded a sacrifice fly in the top of the third. Monroe-Bronx piled nine more runs in the top of the fourth and fifth as
Lluveres put an RBI double.
Arrieta posted three RBIs on two singles while
Randy Diaz (Bronx, New York) collected an RBI on a single, and
Jorge picked up two on a double and
Farrell another on an RBI single.
Acevado picked up his first win of the season, pitching a scoreless five innings and retiring 15 of the 20 batters he faced.
Matt Murphy took the loss for Dutchess Community College, allowing six hits and four runs over three innings, walking one.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports program, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
