Box Score Seldon, New York, March 25, 2022 – On Friday afternoon, the Monroe Express Baseball team fell 11-5 in Region 15 action to Suffolk County Community College in Seldon, New York.
The Express drop to 4-9 with the loss, and the Sharks improve to 5-5-1
After the Express fell behind 8-0 after one inning, they battled back to get within four runs, 8-4, with two in the top of the second and third.
Alex Rodriguez (North Syracuse, N.Y) fought through a five-pitch at-bat to drill a line drive two-run single, scoring
Malvin Gutierrez (New York, N.Y.) and
Randy Diaz (Bronx, New York) to make it 8-2 in the top of the second. Then in the top of the third,
Ruben Ogando (Providence, Rhode Island) sizzled an RBI single to left field, scoring
Jose Arrieta (New Bedford, MA) and
Ernie Farrell (Corona, New York) brought
Ogando across on an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-4.
That was the closest Monroe-Bronx would get as Suffolk County Community College would control the rest of the game en route to an 11-5 victory.
The Express bats uncorked 12 hits on the afternoon as
Malvin Gutierrez (New York, N.Y.),
Alex Rodriguez (North Syracuse, N.Y), and
Ernie Farrell (Corona, New York) recorded multi-hit games.
Gutierrez smacked a career-high three hits with two singles and a double.
Moises Figueroa (Brooklyn, New York) took the loss for the Express going two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and six runs.
Victor Vilomar had an excellent performance out of the bullpen going 4.2 innings and striking out four batters while walking four and allowing two runs.
Anderson Cuello (Manchester, N.H.) pitched 2.2 innings allowing four hits, a walk, and a strikeout.
John Keane got the win for Suffolk County Community College, going seven innings, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one.
The Express will be back at it tomorrow in Region 15, play Saturday, March 26 against Suffolk County Community College in a doubleheader at noon and 3 p.m. in Seldon, New York. For more information, please visit the

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports program, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
