BRONX. NY – Monroe Express men's basketball took to the first of their weekend slate against the Bryant & Stratton Virginia Beach Bobcats, taking on their varsity team resulting in a 89-51 setback inside Atlantic Shores Christian School Gymnasium. With the loss, the Express' record falls to 8-5.

In the end, Jasigha Barnes led the Express with 10 points, seven assists, two blocks and two rebounds. Vashaun Wallace followed with nine points, while Babacar Niang contributed seven points, three rebounds and one block.

The Express finish their series with the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats Saturday (Dec. 17) in a non-conference game against their Varsity-in-Training team at 3 PM inside Atlantic Shores Christian School Gymnasium.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
