BROOKLYN, N.Y., September 25, 2021 - The Monroe Express men's soccer exploded for nine first-half goals rolling over Region 15 opponent Kingsborough 13-0 on Saturday afternoon at Kingsborough Athletics Field in Brooklyn, New York. The Express closed the week with back-to-back victories improving their record to 5-1 (4-0 Region 15), while the Wave's loss was their first of the year overall and in the Region.
A total of 13 different players got on the scoresheet for Monroe-Bronx, with sophomore Abul Chowdhury (Bronx, N.Y.) posting his first career hat trick. Classmates Kymron Ashley (Braes River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) and James Gerbier (Rosedale, N.Y.) both netted two goals apiece, with Ashley picking up a helper. Fellow upperclassmen Andres Lora (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Ulises Gomez (Cali, Colombia) and freshman Kevin Sia (Bronx, N.Y./Burkina Faso), Juan Henao (Colombia), Santiago Lopez (Columbia), and Amos Sawadogo had markers on the afternoon.
On the afternoon, six others added helpers - Sophomores Sabitu Issah (Accra, Ghana), Jean Woobens Zamy (Port Au Prince, Haiti), Yosef Tamay (Corona, N.Y.), and underclassman Larry Alvarado (Harlem, N.Y.), Constantine Nana (Burkina Faso), and Alexander Betancur (Queens, New York).
In net, Aaron Quezada (Chihuahua, Mexico) picked up his second straight shutout, turning away two shots, while Jovensky Dieudonne recorded 12 saves in the match.

- The Express have dominated the first half outscoring their opponents 20-0 in the first six games while just allowing one first-half goal.
- James Gerbier's (Rosedale, N.Y.) has now recorded a team-best tied six goals on the season and his second multi-goal game of the season. He now has eight goals for his career.
- Abul Chowdhury (Bronx, N.Y.) now has a career-best four goals on the season after the first hat trick of his career and seven points (three goals and assist) in the past two games. He also has netted six goals for his career.
- Kymron Ashley (Braes River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) has recorded seven points (three goals and assist) in the past two games.
- Andres Lora (Buenos Aires, Argentina) has dished out four assists this season, matching his total from the 2019 season, and has recorded 11 assists for his career.
- Aaron Quezada (Chihuahua, Mexico) has stopped all seven shots he has faced during his last three appearances. He is also the second goaltender in program history to record back-to-back shutouts since Mustapha Ceesay did it in 2017 against Westchester C.C. on September 21st and Kingsborough on September 28th.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports program, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
