SELDEN, N.Y., May 9, 2021 – The Monroe College Express men's soccer team's winning streak came to a halt on Sunday, as the Express suffered a 5-1 defeat at Suffolk County Community College out in Selden, N.Y. The Express fall to 2-2 on the season, while the Sharks improve to 4-1-1.
The Sharks picked up three goals in the first 12 minutes of the game for an early advantage.
Jean Woobens Zamy got on the board for Monroe early in the second half off a through ball from
Andres Lora to make it a 3-1 match, but the Sharks netted two more goals in the second half for the 5-1 final.

Jose Hernandez made two saves but took the loss for Monroe to fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Express are scheduled to play next on Friday, May 14, when they host the Sharks at Flowers Park in New Rochelle. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports program, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 17 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
