Bronx, N.Y., February 29, 2020 - The Monroe College Express women's basketball program fell in the NJCAA Region XV Championship semifinals to Hostos Community College on Saturday, 75-34.
"Today was a tough loss for our team, but we went out there and did our best to execute our game plan." said Head Coach Jeremy Thompson "Hostos is a good team, they are two-time national champions for a reason."
Freshman Quanisha Griffin led the Express offense, pouring in a team-high 19 points, five steals. In addition, Griffin was also named to the Region XV Championship All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore Monae Laing had five points and five rebounds. Freshman Ramatoulaye Diallo finished with six rebounds, five steals, and three points. Freshman Aissata Diallo ended the afternoon with four points, two rebounds, and two steals.
Hostos outshot Monroe in the contest 38.7 percent to 18.3 percent and outrebounded the Express, 66-34.

The Express concludes the 2019-20 season with a 19-13 record, achieving their best overall mark in program history.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
