Monroe Express Women’s Basketball Falls to SUNY Sullivan at Home

New Rochelle, N.Y., January 25, 2020 – The Monroe College Express women's basketball team was defeated by the SUNY Sullivan Generals, 87-44, on Saturday afternoon at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
 
With the loss, Monroe falls to 13-8 on the season
 
Freshman Quanisha Griffin had a team-high 14 points and five steals. Freshman Anya Shepherd matched her season-high of seven points and pulled down three rebounds. Freshman Ramatoulaye Diallo added a team-high eight rebounds while Ashley Molina had six points and three rebounds. Imoni Beauvais finished with five rebounds, three assists, and two points while Aissata Diallo grabbed five rebounds.

For the contest, Monroe shot 26.9 percent from the field while Sullivan sot 46.4 percent clip from the floor. The Generals outmuscled the Express on the glass, 49-32, converting 26 second-chance points.

Up next, the Express women's basketball team heads to Brooklyn, N.Y. for a conference matchup with Kingsborough Community College on Thursday. Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
