Monroe Express Women’s Basketball Halted at No. 5 Hostos

Bronx, N.Y., January 23, 2020 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to the No. 5 nationally ranked Hostos Community College, 77-34, on Thursday evening. The Express drop to 13-7 overall and 7-3 in Region XV.
 
Freshman Quanisha Griffin had seven points with three rebounds.  Freshman Desteny Arzu finished with five points and a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman Ashley Molina posted seven points and five rebounds. Freshman Anya Shepherd piled up five points and four rebounds while freshman Aissata Diallo netted five points in the loss.
 
The Caimans outshot the Express in the game, shooting 39.5% from the floor while Monroe connected on 24.4% their shots.

Up next, the Express women's basketball team returns home on Saturday. Jan. 25, hosting SUNY Sullivan at the Monroe Athletic Complex at 3 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
