Bronx, N.Y., January 23, 2020 – The Monroe College Express men's basketball program fell on the road on Thursday night, falling to the No.12 nationally ranked Hostos Community College, 100-79, in Region XV play. The Express drop to 5-15 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
Freshman
Kevon Wiggins turned in another high offensive performance, scoring 30 points, along with nine rebounds. Freshman
Adonis Robinson added 15 points and three rebounds. Freshman
Isiah Ryan had 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the contest.
Sophomore
Kevin Benjamin had eight points and two rebounds while freshman
Jaiden Simon notched nine points, two rebounds, and a pair of assists off the bench.
The Caimans outshot Monroe in the game 52%-to-39.2% and outrebounded the Express 54-to-31.
The Express head back to action on Sunday, Jan. 26 on the road against Schenectady County Community College.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
