NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., September 3, 2019 – Playing in its first home game of 2019 and its Region XV opener, the Monroe College Express men's soccer team defeated Westchester Community College, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon at Skidelsky Field at Flowers Park. The Express improve to 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in Region XV play, while Westchester drops to 1-1 and 0-1.
The Express got off to a strong start when

O'Wayne Dalhouse off a defender and past the keeper to put the Express ahead, 1-0.
Early in the second frame, Westchester's Luis Madriz managed to tie the game in the 55th minute. The Express did not allow the game to be tied for long, as
Michael Portillo fired one into the back of the net just five minutes later for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Fred Guillou made his first start in net for the Express and made six saves to earn his first victory. Guilherme Griza took the loss for Westchester after allowing two goals.
Portillo picked up the game-winning goal on Tuesday for his first score of the 2019 campaign. Diallo's early goal was also his first of the season. Dalhouse's assist was his first of the year.
The Express will play next on Friday, Sept. 6, in another Region XV contest, when they visit Borough of Manhattan Community College at Pier 40 in New York City. The game is set to kick off at 12 p.m.
