New Rochelle, N.Y. – In the first intra-campus matchup between the two programs, the Monroe College Express men's soccer team faced off with the Monroe College Mustangs, falling to their cross-campus counterpart, 4-0.
The Mustangs scored their first three goals in the first half (0:21, 16:31, 44:30) and tallied their fourth score in the 49th minute to take the contest.
Sophomores Elhadj Diallo, Leonardo Hinds, and O'Wayne Dalhouse all recorded a shot in the contest for the Express.
Sophomore Fred Guillou made nine saves in the game while sophomore Sergio Servin closed out the match, making five stops.
Up next, the Express return to conference action against Kingsborough Community College on Thursday, October 3.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 12 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
