BAYSIDE, N.Y., September 21, 2019 – After going the first six games of the season without a loss, the Monroe College Express men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, a 3-1 defeat on the road at Queensborough Community College in Region XV action. The Express fall to 5-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Region XV play, while the Tigers improve to 4-3 overall, with all of their games so far coming against Region XV opponents.

The Express got things started on the right foot when Momodu Touray scored in the 16th minute to put Monroe up, 1-0. Queensborough's Sully Corneille then tied the game in the 36th minute on a penalty kick, eventually sending the game to the half with a 1-1 tie.

The Tigers took the lead in the 65th minute when Christopher Rodas scored off an assist from Emerson Hernandez, making it a 2-1 game. Luis Flores then potted another for the Tigers in the 76th minute to secure the eventual 3-1 final score.

Fred Guillou made three stops in goal for the Express, but allowed three goals to fall to 3-1-1 on the season. Queensborough's Brayan Manzano made seven saves to pick up the win.

The Express face a tall task on Monday, Sept. 23, when they take on their New Rochelle campus counterparts, and Division I No. 1-ranked Monroe College Mustangs, at Flowers Park in New Rochelle. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
