BRONX, N.Y., April 18, 2019 – Due to inclement weather causing unplayable field conditions, Monroe Express baseball has made schedule changes for this weekend.
The Express' Region XV doubleheader against Nassau Community College on Saturday, April 20 at Roberto Clemente State Park has been postponed. Instead, the Express take on the Lions in a doubleheader at Mitchel Park in Garden City, N.Y. on Friday, April 19 beginning at 12 p.m., with Monroe serving as the home team.
Monroe has also added three games to the schedule. On Wednesday, April 24, the Express will host Kingsborough Community College at 4 p.m. at Roberto Clemente State Park. And on Sunday, April 28, the Express will travel to Loch Sheldrake, N.Y. to take on SUNY Sullivan in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
Following their loss to Sussex County Community College on Thursday, the Express sit at 3-19 (1-9 Region XV) on the season.
The Express will be back in action on Friday, April 19 when they travel to Garden City, N.Y. to take on Nassau Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
