Monroe Express Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to No. 4 Nassau, 84-47

New Rochelle, N.Y., December 5, 2019 – On Thursday, the Monroe Express women's basketball program fell at home to No. 4 Nassau Community College, 84-47. The Express fall to 5-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in Region XV play.
 
Freshman Quanisha Griffin ended the evening with a team-high 12 points and four rebounds. Freshman Imoni Beauvais made her first start of the season, netting a season-high 11 points on four-of-seven shooting from the floor. Freshman Desteny Arzu had eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Barbara Valentin recorded six points and five rebounds while Ashley Molina had five points and six rebounds.
 
The Express owned the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Lions 41-28 in the contest. The Express shot 41.7 percent from the floor but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting 16.7 percent from deep. 
 
The Express women's basketball program returns back to action this weekend as the team travels down to Columbia, Maryland on Saturday, Dec. 7 to take on Howard Community College.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
