Box Score BABSON PARK, MASS., NOVEMBER 3, 2019Â - The Monroe College Express JV women's basketball team began its 2019-20 season with a 38-15 victory over the Babson College Club team on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Tiffani Turpin led the Express with a game-high 18 points, along with six rebounds and three steals. Rookie Amaniya Aiken collected 12 points, six rebounds, and a game-high six steals.Â
Aissata Diallo picked up a team-high seven rebounds and four points while Joanne Chavez finished with five rebounds and two steals.
The Express defense played stellar thought the game, holding Babson to just 18 points on 4-for-29 shooting. Monroe forced 24 Babson turnovers in the contest, converted them into 20 points on offense.
The Express are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 when they host UConn-Club at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
